Sacem virus is a variant of Ukash virus targeted at French-speaking computer users, because the content of the message shown by the infection is in French. Like other ransomware infections attributed to Ukash virus group, the virus camouflages itself with the credentials of an organization that has supposedly blocked the computer because of some violations of copyright laws. In this case, SACEM is a company that works on protecting authors’ rights; so naturally, the accusations presented in the message are related to copyrighted material. It is important to keep in mind that the Sacem notification is not real and it is displayed to make you pay money; therefore, the removal of the virus is the only action recommended.
To scare the user into paying a fine in order to restore the computer’s settings, cyber criminals designed the message to look as serious as possible. For example, on the right-hand corner, the logo of Police Nationale, while on the opposite corner the name of Sacem is given. Below, the user is told that the computer is paralyzed because illegally acquired pieces of music have been detected:
Votre ordinateur a été verrouillé.
Des morceaux de musique téléchargés illégalement (piratés) ont été localisés sur votre ornateur.Additionally, the IP address of the PC is given to scare the user into thinking that he or she is in serious trouble:
Vous pouvez etre clairement identifié par la résolution de votre adresse IP et le nom d'hote associé.
The accusations and the IP address should be disregarded alongside the instruction to pay 50 euros via Paysafecard. The money paid will not help to get rid of the message, and the virus will remain on the computer for as long as you do not take any emergency measures. We recommend that you do not wait and remove Sacem virus immediately to avoid any possible damage that could be done while the infection is present in the system. To remove Sacem virus, we advise you to use SpyHunter, because not only will it delete the infection, but also safeguard the PC of further infections.
