E-Card.exe is a Trojan infection that is delivered via spam email. It tries to enter your computer through the back door, pretending to be a friendly email from someone you know. This Trojan is usually sent out during national holidays and during other important events, when you would be expecting to receive a greeting. Actually, E-Card.exe does all it can to look absolutely innocent.

It comes with a subject: “You’ve received an e-card from a family member!”. The sender is usually a commonly known website that specializes in internet greetings, such as, for example, AmericanGreetings.com or Hallmark.com. That is not to say that these companies are sending out spam. The cyber criminals behinds this are simply using these big names to hide their malicious intensions.

If you have opened this email, do not fret – you haven’t been infected with E-Card.exe yet. You would need to do a little bit more to catch the Trojan. You should realize that you mustn’t click on any of the hotlinks in the email. Clicking on the link would definitely lead to you being infected by the E-Card.exe Trojan, which you definitely would not want to experience.
