CoinVault is a serious computer infection that acts in the same manner as CryptoGraphic Locker. There is no doubt that you will notice its presence if it happens that it slithers onto your computer because this infection will encrypt all your files and change the wallpaper. On top of that, you will see a message which will ask you to pay a ransom of 0.7 bitcoin (equals approximately 207, 47 Euros). If you wonder what “encryption” means, you should know that you will simply not be able to access any of your files. Unfortunately, it will not be enough to remove CoinVault if you want to decrypt your files; however, we still do not recommend paying a ransom because there is no guarantee that you will gain access to all of your files.

If this ransomware really manages to enter the system, you will definitely notice a warning message on your desktop. It is especially true if you see a similar text (see below):

Your personal documents and files on this computer or device have just been encrypted.

Encrypted means you will not be able to access your files anymore, until they are decrypted.

Unfortunately, the presence of CoinVault means that you will not be able to access any of your files. As the research has shown, this infection encrypts .doc, .xls, .pst, .dxf, .png, .bmp, .gif, .exif, .txt, and a number of other file formats. As CoinVault starts automatically with Windows, it is very difficult to bypass it. Actually, it seems that computer users have only two options: to pay a ransom or just recover their files from the backup. As the research has shown, the CoinVault itself is not only a decrypter, but also a payment system; however, you should carefully think whether you want to pay the ransom. Our security experts recommend that you recover your files from the backup or Shadow Volume Copies instead of paying money to cyber criminals.

Ransomware infections might slither onto your computer if they find any security loopholes on your system; thus, you should be very cautious and even install an antimalware tool on the system. The specialists at 411-spyware.com also suggest that you will not open spam email attachments or download programs from untrustworthy websites. It would be also clever to ignore advertisements that you might come across on different websites because you might install infections.

As the research carried out by our experts has shown, the deletion of CoinVault will not help you to decrypt your files. It does not matter whether you decide to pay a ransom or not, you should still remove this ransomware from the system because it might encrypt your files again. You will not be able to do that alone, so we recommend installing a trustworthy malware remover, such as SpyHunter. Keep it enabled if you want to prevent similar infections from entering your system in the future.
