Another type of ransomware infection, called Android Police Virus, appeared in May 2014. The concept of this infection is well-known because security specialists have dealt with similar ransomware infections before. For example, the notorious FBI virus is somewhat similar to Android Police Virus. However, the main difference between these infections is that Android Police Virus affects phones and tablets that run on the Android operating system. It does not affect desktop computers, and computer security experts suggest that compared to the desktop infection, removing Android Police Virus is not as complicated.

There are several types of ransomware Trojans that blackmail users into spending their money for nothing. This particular Android Police Virus Trojan is called Koler.A and it mainly affects Android smartphones. Anyone who has encountered the desktop ransomware infections before would know that the Trojan locks down your machine by displaying a fictitious notification saying that you have committed a serious crime. Android Police Virus does the same. It blocks the screen of your smartphone or tablet with a message that was supposedly sent by the national security service.

The message displayed by Android Police Virus varies according to the user’s location. The Koler.A Trojan makes use of the tracking feature on your phone to choose the appropriate warnings for your country. Thus, it displays multiple warnings for several countries, and the ransom fee differs according to your currency. For example, if Android Police Virus detects that you are located in the United States, it displays the following message:

ATTENTION!
Your phone has been blocked up for safety reasons listed below. All the actions performed on this phone are fixed. All your files are encrypted. CONDUCTED AUDIO AND VIDEO.

Android Police Virus asks $300 of the American victims. The infected users are supposed to transfer the ransom fee over a fixed period of time. Otherwise, Android Police Virus threatens that a criminal case will be opened against the user. Needless to say, these claims are absolutely groundless because Android Police Virus has nothing in common with the law enforcement authorities. Koler.A Trojan and Android Police Virus are created by cyber criminals, so it is part of the cyber crime network itself.

It is obvious that users don’t need to pay a single cent to remove Android Police Virus from their mobile devices. This infection disables the back button, but the Home button still works. If you remember which application initiated this infection, you can press the Home button, open the App Drawer and uninstall the malicious applications. You have five seconds for it before the Android Police Virus message is displayed again.

Computer security experts note that this removal method works the best if you have few apps installed and the infection can be found on the first App Drawer page. On the other hand, you can also remove Android Police Virus through the Safe Mode, and it would be far easier. The removal guide for this infection is provided below.

To avoid similar infections, you shouldn’t browse pornography websites with your mobile device. Such web pages are often full of dangerous infections that are only one click away. If you are offered to download a video player for the premium pornography videos, you should decline this offer immediately because that is obviously a scam devised to trick you into downloading Android Police Virus. Thus, it is always a good idea to exercise safe web browsing skills to protect your mobile device from similar infections.
