The developers of well-known and despised rogue antispyware application Internet Protection have released their latest clone, Antivirus Center. This rogue was designed with the same malicious intent as its predecessor, and has only improved on its deviousness. As with any other rogue, Antivirus Center’s main purpose and intent is to only rip its victims off. It does not have any intention or ability to live up to any of its over embellished promises.
Antivirus Center will use any devious tactic to facilitate its surreptitious infiltration of the system. These may vary from using bogus online malware scanners infected with the Antivirus Center infection to using seditious browser hijacking sites which forcefully redirect users to their compromised landing pages. These compromised landing pages employ drive-by download tactics to surreptitiously root the Antivirus Center infection into vulnerable PCs. As of late it has also been reported that Antivirus Center bundles its Trojans and malware together with other third party downloads and updates.
Once the rogue manages to securely root itself in the system it will start its attack by initiating a fake system scan each times the user logs on to Windows. This fake system scan will inform the user that his system is being overrun by various viruses and infections, and that he will need to pay for Antivirus Center’s products in order to remove these supposed infections.
Antivirus Center will then proceed to spam the user with incessant and utterly annoying fake security alerts which will warn the user that his system is being attacked. These notifications are all fake, and should never enjoy any attention from the user. Some fake alerts generated by Antivirus Center to be on the lookout for are as follows:
Antivirus Center Firewall Alert
Suspicious activity in your registry system space was detected. Rogue malware detected in your system. Data leaks and system damage are possible. Please use a deep scan option.Antivirus Center Firewall Alert
Your computer is being attacked from a remote machine!
Block Internet access to your computer to prevent system infection.
Attacker IP:
Attack type: RCPT exploit
Users are warned never to believe any correspondence received from Antivirus Center. This rogue does not have your best intentions at heart and will not relent until you either pay for or remove Antivirus Center from the system.
Other symptoms which will follow this infection range from system folders’ contents being hidden from the user, randomly generated and deleted Desktop items and increasing erratic system behavior. Victims of Antivirus Center have also complained about blocked Internet connections and hijacked Internet browsers.
Restore your PC’s security and destroy Antivirus Center. This can safely and most efficiently be done by making use of the removal power of a genuine and powerful security tool which will not only erase Antivirus Center but also protect against similar attacks in future.
