Bing Redirect Virus is the term that is used to refer to a computer infection that manipulates the users of the Bing search engine. The word ‘redirect’ means that you can be provided with wrong search results when using Bing or redirected to Bing search results when using some other search provider. The so-called Bing Redirect Virus enters the computer like any other malicious program; it could access the system via bundled downloads or as a drive-by-download, which is an instance of software installation when a program is installed without the user’s interference. Hence, it is highly advisable to avoid browsing insecure websites, including adult-oriented websites and file sharing websites. Moreover, it is crucial to pay close attention to every installation process. If some license agreement is displayed on the screen, do not ignore it because it may provide you with important information about changes that will be made within your system.

The Bing Redirect Virus is very similar to the Google Redirect Virus and Yahoo Redirect Virus, and, if you want to avoid them in the future, you should keep the system up-to-date and properly protected against malware and spyware. To do so, a powerful anti-malware program should be implemented.

The Bing Redirect Virus should be removed from the computer as soon as possible because it can inflict a lot of damage to your computer and, without a doubt, put your personal information in danger. For example, you may be provided with links that take you to phishing websites aimed at obtaining your personal information or misleading you into downloading more dangerous malware.

Additionally, the program redirecting you to suspect websites may also be monitoring your online behavior. It records your clicks and search terms, read browsing history and other settings, and send all the information gathered to remote servers.

When a so-called redirect virus accesses a computer, the Windows hosts file is usually altered to provide you with certain search results. Below you will find instructions that will help you examine the settings of the system and fix them if necessary. By default, Internet browsers automatically detect proxy settings; however, after the invasion of a redirect program, the settings are changed so that the browsers connect to a particular proxy server. You will also find instructions on how to restore your IP address and remove unwanted browser add-ons. If the Bing Redirect Virus is not installed a browser add-on, you will not have to make any changes within your browsers; nevertheless, it is worth checking the settings.
