Hold Page is an adware application that annoys computer users worldwide by displaying third-party commercial advertisements. It enters your system bundled with freeware, so there is a good chance that you need to take care of more programs than just Hold Page. Luckily, adware programs are not that hard to remove from your system, and you can uninstall Hold Page via Control Panel. Nevertheless, it is always important to scan your system with a computer security tool of your choice because if you are not an experienced computer user you might accidentally miss some adware-related files.
Hold Page belongs to the SuperWeb adware family. It is very similar to Spark Cast, Key Lime Lizard, SnipSmart, AdvanceElite, and many other applications from the same group. Hold Page also has a homepage at holdingmypage.com, but the download button does not work. Clicking the button opens a blank tab. How, then, does Hold Page enters your system? The answer is very simple: the program gets distributed bundled with freeware. Each time you download something at file sharing or torrent websites, you need to stop and consider the fact that you might be downloading more than just one application on your computer.
Sometimes users don’t realize that they have adware on their computers because such programs as Hold Page are not that conspicuous. They do not try to hide from you, but it might also take some time to connect the abundance of ads on your browser with Hold Page. The main security problem associated with this program is those ads.
At first glance, it might seem that Hold Page tries to provide you with relevant information, related to your most recent searches. However, Hold Page ads seem relevant because this adware program collects data on what websites you visit and what you search for online. Then it outsources ad content at third-party advertising networks and basically washes its hands clean of the entire ad security.
Since Hold Page has such a loose privacy policy, the program can be exploited by cyber criminals to promote their links and websites. This adware application is not responsible for the security of third-party content, so even if you get infected with malware (in the worst case), the program cannot be blamed for it.
Thus, you need to take care of your system’s security yourself. Do it by removing Hold Page from the computer and investing in a powerful antispyware application. A computer security tool will help you protect your system from similar intruders in the future.
