If you are suddenly cannot access your programs, and all you see is a disturbing message on a white background saying you might have to face criminal charges in court then you are most definitely infected with Loadit. This ransomware infection locks you out of your computer, and unless you remove Loadit from your system, you will not be able to launch most of your programs or access your files. Scroll down to the bottom of this description for manual Loadit removal instructions, but don’t forget that you should also address experienced technicians if something doesn’t go according to the plan.
Loadit is a dangerous infection that resists being removed as much as possible. It is very different from adware and browser hijacker applications because it is a genuine computer threat. Thus, it is impossible to remove Loadit via Control Panel, and the program auto starts with Windows, so even if you restart your computer the false notification will still be there on your screen. Here is an extract of the message users infected with Loadit see on their screens:
Ihr Computer wurde von der GVU gesperrt.
Auf Ihrem Computer wurden illegal heruntergeladene Medien (“Raubkopien”) gefunden.
Diese sind in Form von Musik, Filmen oder Entertainmentsoftware vorhanden. Durch den Download wurden diese Medien vervielfaltigt, sodas ebenfalls eine Strafbarkeit gemäß § 106 Urhebergesetz gegeben ist.
Since the message is in German, it is clear that Loadit is targeted mostly at German-speaking users. Not to mention that Loadit makes use of an actual registered association GVU (Gesellschaft zur Verfolgung von Urheberrechtsverletzungen), that works to protect intellectual property for the game and film industry. In other words, GVU is there to fight illegal distribution of copied materials. However, Loadit has nothing in common with GVU, and it only makes use of the name to convince unsuspecting users that they have violated the Copyright Law, and now they have to pay (literally).
Loadit says that unless you pay a 100 euro fine, the data about your “crime” will be forwarded to the local law enforcement authority and you will have to face criminal charges. Nevertheless, these threats are just part of the Loadit’s plan to swindle you out of your money. Not to mention that even if you wire the money, the program will not bother to unlock your system, so you would only have spent a hundred euro for nothing.
To remove Loadit from your computer, you will have to load your system in the Safe Mode with Command Prompt with a flash drive at the ready. You need to download the SpyHunter installer on another computer and then transfer it to your USB drive so that you would be able to install the scanner on your infected computer. If something does not go according to the plan, please contact us by leaving a comment and we will reply as soon as possible.
