If you use softonic.com to install various add-ons and extensions, you may end up with Softonic Toolbar on all of the running browsers, including Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. Once this happens, both the home page and the search engine are modified to search.softonic.com. Even though it may be surprising to see these configurations, you must note that they are optional, and you can change them during the chosen software installation. All in all, if you feel tricked or you simply do not find the extension useful, you may choose to delete Softonic Toolbar. The removal process is not extremely complicated; however, you definitely need time and focus to be successful.

Even though Softonic Toolbar is not always offered for you to install, you are always presented with the same End-User License Agreement. Here you are informed that the company (Softonic International) may implement HTTP cookies to track some of your personal information, for example, your IP address:

Softonic uses cookies and IP tracking. Softonic's software and the Softonic's site's traffic analyzer use cookies and IP trackers to collect data for statistical purposes, including: date of first visit, number of visits, date of last visit, URL and domain, browser and screen resolution.

The toolbar is also related to third-party advertising which is why you should be extremely careful about the way your browser runs. Have you noticed any unauthorized modifications? Are you being redirected to suspicious adware sites? Do you see unfamiliar browser extensions running? These are the signs of illegal and dangerous activity, in which case you should employ automatic malware detection and removal tools to delete potentially running threats.

If you have not noticed malware activity, which you can check with a reliable spyware scanner, and want to remove Softonic Toolbar, you are more than welcome to use our manual removal instructions. Note that you can choose some steps to reconfigure browser settings; however, we recommend you remove unwanted toolbars as well.
