Trojan.LockScreen.EM is one of the versions of the LockScreen Trojan that enters your system surreptitiously and blocks you from accessing your files and programs. Usually, Trojans from this group behave like ransomware applications because they ask for money in order to unlock the screen. For example, you might be asked to send an SMS message to receive a password. However, Trojan.LockScreen.EM does not ask for ransom, it merely locks your screen and displays a dubious message. You need to acquire a reliable antispyware application to remove Trojan.LockScreen.EM from your system.
Users are well aware of other types of ransomware applications, such as Ukash FBI Virus programs. Granted, all of them are distributed by Trojans, but they are by more dangerous than Trojan.LockScreen.EM. It seems that this application is more like a beta version because it does not ask you to pay in order to unlock your computer. The moment Trojan.LockScreen.EM enters the system; it installs one file and adds two registry values. The file that belongs to this infection is titled DragonDay.exe and it usually gets dropped in ProgramData directory. Value name “Dragon Day” is also added to that part of Windows registry that is responsible for loading the application automatically each times the Windows boot up.
When you get infected with Trojan.LockScreen.EM, you will realize it immediately. This application does not beat around the bush. The Trojan will display a fast loading screen that says:
3 new backdoors detected
Zulu program detected
System extremely vulnerable
Afterwards, the screen will change into a flamboyant message that reads “THE PEOPLES REPUBLIC WELCOMES YOUR ALLEGIANCE,” but it does not offer any further explanation as to what is going on.
If you got infected with Trojan.LockScreen.EM – do not panic. This application cannot steal your money. It is clear that you need to get rid of it if you want to access your files, but you should not attempt manual removal unless you are an experienced computer user. There is a high chance that Trojan.LockScreen.EM is not the only malicious infection present on your system. You should restore your desktop access and then scan your PC with a licensed antispyware tool to search for other potential threats.
